Out of this World

Projects: House Calls, Hotspots and Roaming

  • Out of this World
  • Hot Spots
Visitors can use them individually or in groups completely free of charge and without prior appointment or any other formalities. In open spaces, the equipment, the facilities and the interactive objects enable a musical experience that can happen occasionally or frequently, superficially or intensely. These Hot Spots can be visited once or many times, at will. In any case, they are a clear invitation for everyone: please feel free to touch anything.
  • Roaming

We make our history between here and there, always open to new geographies. We go where we are wanted taking our own creations with us - performances, workshops, Out of This World projects, artistic residencies, training initiatives... In the universal language of music, across other subject areas, investing in innovative processes - often alternative - we take the best of us. And we go where we are welcomed.

Dynamic, emergent, obviously positive: this is the perfect description of Roaming, created by the Education Service of Casa da Música. It is the creation of a map that expands each year, with paths that lead to other stages, other audiences. Our enthusiasm and commitment are the same, whether we go somewhere near or very far away. With this attitude in mind, we have been creating itineraries across Portugal and the world, some of which have already become regular. We have been assiduous visitors at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan since 2013, organizing several training initiatives and workshops. We have also been presenting workshops and performances at Palau de la Musica Catalana, in Barcelona. We have participated in Oficinas de Música de Curitiba (Curitiba’s Music Workshops) and the O que é o que é? festival, at Artes para Children (Arts for Children), in São Paulo. Across borders, we can point out, for example, joyful roamings that took place at Festival Internacional de Música de Espinho, (Espinho International Music Festival), in the last two years; at GNRation, in Braga; or at Serralves em Festa!, in Porto. In 2015-16 we expect to travel to other places. Some of these itinerancies are predefined, following several cardinal points. Others will arise - the map is wide open. The Roaming program by ES is always open to new suggestions.
