Gustav Mahler Sinfonia nº 7
One hundred years after its premiere in Prague, the Seventh Symphony is still one of the most enigmatic works of Western Music History. From the nine symphonies written by Mahler, the seventh is probably the most daring in the use of harmonies, abounding dissonances and sudden modulations. "Which movement do I like the most? All of them!", wrote Arnold Schoenberg to the Austrian composer in a letter that demonstrates his admiration for the symphony "with the right atmosphere from beginning to end". On the subject of the triumphant finale in C major that continues to raise such controversy today, Mahler clarifies: "The world is mine!"
