BRUNO PERNADAS QUINTETO
One of the most adventurous Portuguese composers, Bruno Pernadas is known for his unique discography that shows he is a musician who feeds on jazz as well as rock, pop and classical music. He is a prospector of new timbres when he performs in front of an ensemble, and a true creator of songs without words, to whom the critics have already surrendered. He brings to Casa da Música his more jazzy ensemble that created the album Worst Summer Ever, in which his identity as writer and leader is clearer than ever.
MÁRIO LAGINHA, JULIAN ARGÜELLES & HELGE NORBAKKEN
Setembro is a brilliant album out of the creative minds of Portuguese pianist Mário Laginha, English saxophonist Julian Argüelles and Norwegian percussionist Helge Norbakken. The maturity of these three musicians combined resulted in an album of sublime beauty characterized by fluidity: powerful grooves, complex (but lyrical) melodies and prejudice-free interaction. Rooted in the various traditions of its members, but notoriously modern, the music of Setembro is episodic, full of small pleasures of exploration that mirror the modus operandi of these three great musicians.
